end May 2011  PESSKI  -  Post Exhibition Stress Syndrome Kicking In ...So it turned out that possibly / probably the Southern Cape is not the ideal 'audience' for our work ...   We had hoped that we would have quite a bit of 'traffic' from the Pink Loerie Mardi Gras, but sadly not.  I now have a better understanding that they all like to meet in Knysna once a year and party together.  Apart from our friends and fellow artists who faithfully came to view our exhibition, the passers-by would often give a quick glance through the lovely picture windows of the gallery, see the kaalgat meisies and hurry past.  Maybe I'm being a bit harsh on the general public and what I have come to believe is true, and that's these kind of 'in your face' figure studies are best viewed by a city public.  Or maybe .... and here's the devil on my shoulder saying, " maybe the work just isn't good enough anyway"   No I don't believe that, not for a minute.

On the other hand we had a visit from a German artist, visiting in Knysna, who loved our work, and spent a lot of time with us ( much translating by Ingrid for my benefit ) discussing same AND who has invited us to exhibit at his Atelier in Germany !  Now THAT's what make it all worthwhile.  over and out ...
